How Much Does it Cost to Install a Dishwasher?
There are several factors that will influence the cost of installing a dishwasher. The article below should help you get a better understanding of how much your project will cost.
1. Your location. Your geographic location will be one of the most important cost factors. If the cost of living in your area is higher, the cost of installation will increase. Our Appliance Installation Cost Report is a great resource for finding estimated prices in your local area.

2. Have you already purchased the dishwasher? If you have the dishwasher already and only need it installed, this will cut down on the cost of installation. If the contractor will be purchasing the dishwasher, make sure the cost of delivery is included in the estimate.
3. Dishwasher replacement. Are you installing a new dishwasher or replacing an existing one? Will the new one fit in the existing cutout (width and depth)? If it fits properly, this may help you save a few dollars.
4. Type of dishwasher. Do you want a standard, built-in dishwasher? If not, other options are available. Drawer dishwashers can be very convenient, but they tend to be more expensive (especially when installing more than one drawer). If you don’t have space to install a built-in dishwasher, some portable and free-standing models are available.
5. Dishwasher Size. The standard size dishwasher is measures 24-inches across. As a general rule, larger dishwashers will cost more. However, large capacity dishwashers offer extra convenience to large families in particular.

6. Exterior finish. A stainless steel exterior is going to be more expensive than a basic black or white finish. In some cases, you may be able to match the exterior of the dishwasher with the rest of your kitchen cabinetry. This type of customization can be expensive though.
7. Interior tub. A dishwasher with a plastic tub is going to be more affordable than one with a stainless steel tub. There are pros and cons to each type.
8. All parts included? There should be no additional charges for hoses, fittings, and mounting brackets. Make sure that all of the necessary supplies and materials are included in the quote.
9. Plumbing. Is there a water hook-up for the dishwasher in place? If not, the installation of a water line will add to the cost of a project, especially if it requires the services of a licensed plumber.
10. Electrical wiring. Is there an electrical connection in place for the dishwasher? If not, installing a new outlet will add to the overall cost of installation.
11. Structural modifications. Will the dishwasher fit? Any major modifications to countertops, floors, or cabinets will come at an additional cost.
12. Dishwasher features. Dishwasher technology is constantly changing. Dishwashers with concealed controls or special cleaning cycles will be more expensive.
13. Haul away and disposal. Is there an additional charge for the removal and disposal of the existing appliance? Make sure this is included in the cost estimate in order to avoid a surprise up-charge.
